Alberto Ramos - Dominican Republic Program Director

Alberto Ramos describes himself as "an easy-going, fun-loving, hard-working bilingual Dominican." We'll add that he is indispensable to our program in the Dominican Republic. Alberto was a teenager when VISIONS arrived in his Sabana Perdida neighborhood. As a junior member of the local Lions Club of which his parents, Santos and Lidia, are charter members and past Presidents, Alberto worked alongside VISIONS' teen volunteers building Collegio de Melvin Jones, a two-story school that now educates more than five hundred students every year and also serves as the local hurricane shelter.

Alberto, Program Liaison in the DR, has been a staff leader since 1996 and plays an essential on-the-ground role as program director each summer. During the off season, Alberto is a high school counselor and English teacher, and organizes service trips to the DR for VISIONS Custom Programs and for the Ministry Medical International. An active volunteer in his local Lions Club and community at large, Alberto and his wife, Kenia, are the proud parents of three beautiful young children.
