Lisa graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2003 with a degree in Secondary Education / Biology. During the school year Lisa is a middle school science teacher and student council advisor in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Lisa loves the ever-constant challenges that her career brings, not the least of which is watching her students grow from new experiences, especially through travel. Lisa is firmly convinced that she learns at least as much from her students as they do from her.
Lisa has settled into an annual habit of seeking new adventures during the summer months. Before joining VISIONS, Lisa lived in Keystone, CO, where she worked as Assistant Director at the Keystone Science Center. A primary focus of her position there was to facilitate team-building activities for adults and high school participants. She worked closely with students through the Counselor Assistant Program in which she encouraged and taught students to develop their leadership skills, watching them grow during the program as they worked with younger participants. At Keystone, Lisa also enjoyed whitewater rafting, hiking, and backpacking throughout the great state of Colorado.
Lisa discovered VISIONS in 2007 when she staffed our program in the BVI for the full summer season. Fortunately for VISIONS and for Lisa, she felt an instant connection to the Caribbean and the people, and returned in 2008 and 2009 as the program director in the BVIs. While she will miss our friends in Tortola, Lisa is excited to meet new people and direct VISIONS' program in Dominica this summer.
