Marvin Mastin - Northern Passage Program Director

Born in England and raised in Kansas, Marvin Mastin's first season with VISIONS was also our first summer on Montana's Blackfeet Indian Reservation in 1992 where he was on the staff team. He helped ground that program by returning consecutive summers as program director. He led VISIONS programs for seven summers in Montana and South Carolina. Between VISIONS summers he tromped through the Redwood forests of Northern California and the Buckeye-filled woods of Ohio as a naturalist.

Marvin hung up his director hat and summers in the field with VISIONS after he found love, married, and became a (devoted and doting) father, and to create a thriving business, Mastin Remodeling, that focuses on custom remodeling and sustainable approaches to reshaping spaces. To our delight, Marvin came out of retirement in 2008 to help lead VISIONS' first season in Vietnam and was the program's director in 2009.

Marvin's whole-hearted commitment in VISIONS' early years unquestionably provided unity and continuity in our growth. His joyful team spirit, and penchant for good-humored pranks and dressing up in outrageous costumes are legendary. Marvin and his wife, Jannele, are the proud parents of two beautiful little girls and Summer, their 120-lb American Mastiff.
