Provin Sanford is a native of the Kalinago community in Dominica and has long been recognized as a leader and distinguished member of the Carib Territory. Provin began his tenure with VISIONS in 1996 as a youth volunteer with us and soon thereafter became our cultural liaison, carpenter, mason, and on-site coordinator. Provin was on the staff team for several summer seasons and then directed VISIONS programs in Dominica and the British Virgin Islands.

Provin is keenly interested in learning about people and in sharing his own culture with others. After working for years with VISIONS volunteers from diverse backgrounds, Provin and his wife, Cara Ciminillo (also a veteran VISIONS Program Director), created Longe Dominica, a nonprofit that offers adult volunteer experiences in Dominica. Provin visits his family and many close friends who reside in the Territory as often as possible. Provin and Cara live in Pittsburgh. After a hiatus from summers with VISIONS to have two daughters, Mia and Lyra, and to establish his carpentry and contracting business, Provin looks forward once again to introducing his friends and family members to VISIONS participants this summer.
