Your service will take place primarily at one of two orphan centers near Battambang. Most likely our primary project partner will be Children’s Future International that operates an orphan center and school.

Projects will be a mix of construction and volunteering with children at the center. We will do landscaping and may create a large garden, perhaps build additional pig pens, a cement game platform or a kiosk with swings.  Our construction will be primarily block and mortar and some light carpentry. You will tutor children in English lessons, read books with them, do art activities, and organize and supervise sports activities and other games. Another project will incorporate oral interviews. You may be creating a format of questions about culture and society in an ask-and-answer exchange with Cambodians closer to your age and older.

As in many of our developing country locations, your service projects this summer may change as the our partner’s goals shift and they re-prioritize how best to use us and the skills we bring.
