It is strange, as a parent, to never have actually met the people who helped our child grow into a more aware, fulfilled and content human being. I have, through this process, wondered what you all are like, but I do know what you are like. I know because I see it in my daughter's face and the way she treats others with respect and dignity. I was really apprehensive about this trip and it was the best experience of my life. Montana was beautiful, the kids on the trip were great and some have become close friends. The work was rewarding and I really put my heart into it. I loved hanging out with the staff and learning so much about the Northern Cheyenne people.

While I was on the trip, it was as if I was a new person. I even began to communicate on a more advanced level. I used more mature words to speak with my peers. I had an excellent experience. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I believe that the Montana trip will affect me in a positive way as I transition into senior year. I am able to communicate better and I am able to step outside my zone to do things I never thought were possible. The trip helped me realize that I can make a difference in people’s lives and that there are teens going through some of the same issues as me. I am thankful for your support and help. I will use what I’ve learned in the future, which is how to follow and then lead by an example.

This summer was incredible. I grew so much from my experience at Visions. It was so rewarding to see the people of the community using the things that we worked so hard to build. The people I met on the reservation helped me gain a broader perspective on life. They game me irreplaceable knowledge and experiences that I will carry with me throughout my life. Even though there were times when things seemed very hard, I came out of the experience feeling so rewarded. I’m so lucky that I got to have such a great summer that was filled with so many memories. Even though at home my life has gone back to its fast-paced rhythm, a little piece of my heart will always be with The Northern Cheyenne Reservation.
